MOTHER's portrait...

"MOTHER- What a strong word!
The mother is the one who sacrifices, the one who gives herself, the one who takes care of everyone, the one who listens to you, takes you in her arms, encourages you, caresses you when you are fallen. She is the one who wipes away your tears when you cry, she asks you if everything is fine, and if not, she makes sure that everything will be fine. It is very painful to explain in words how much my mother meant to me and how much I loved her.
I sit and think about the time when I was just a child until the moment I left home and came back just to visit. I remember the kind words you used to say to me when you were proud of me, or the moments we spent in the kitchen telling wanted and unwanted things, how you told me jokes or funny phases, or how you took me anywhere to help you with your chores. Or the moments when you told me about the experiences in your life and how God was with you. I remember the times when we stayed for days to prepare for the Holy Holidays and how you woke up at 5 in the morning to put the food on the table and we all have a blessed time.
I remember the summer evenings we spent on the terrace. You had your seat on the couch and we all knew it was yours alone. The love you had for your grandchildren, how you sat next to them and fed them. Or the fact that you are very happy to have everyone in the family around you and to be together. From the moments when we sat outside and sang old songs until late in the evening, and you came and said:" Let's sing this song, or the other one! "You were full of joy when we sang your favorite songs.
I remember the moments when we had guests, young and old, we would gather and you told each of us what we had to do. Or the days when we planted flowers (you loved the flowers, they were your weakness). Or when it was just the two of us putting pickles, cleaning the attic, the house, the terrace, everywhere.
I remember the letters I wrote to you when I upset you, or the ones for your birthday and Mother's Day. I remember your contagious laughter, how your tears flowed. I also remember the tears you shed, the moments of sadness. I remember the massage I gave you almost every day, because you were tired. I remember you liked coffee very much.
You knew everything, what we liked to eat, how we should dress, how we should talk. Everything! You were the person who loved God and you passed on your kindness, generosity, your good soul, your teachings. You left behind a real legacy.
I fondly remember your warm and welcoming smile, your outer and inner beauty, your smooth, velvety skin. Your beaten and worked hands that have raised so many souls. Your strength of work. You could never take a break, you were always in constant motion.
How you talked to us about Jesus and how we read from the Bible with you and father. You were the person who gave everything for those you loved. And not only that, if a stranger came and asked you for something, you would give it to him without restraint.
I do not know! You have been my earthly mother and I am enormously blessed because God has chosen you to be my mother.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care you have given me, my brothers and sisters. We all miss you very much.
Thank you for choosing me to be your daughter!
Thank you for giving me a family and a better life!
Thanks because when I had the bike accident, you always came to my bed to see if I'm okay. Or when a child was feeling sick, you were there.
Thank you for your sacrifice, your love, your heart of gold.
Thanks for the reprimands, without them I wouldn't be who I am today.
Thanks for everything!
You will remain my MOTHER forever and I will never forget you! I was waiting to see you in heaven!"
